even more firsts!

You can now easily go from being on your stomach and sitting up - you do it over and over, it's the cutest thing! You can also feed yourself Cheerios! You are up on your knees a little bit when you crawl but still prefer to "swim" on your belly. Speaking of which, you seemed to actually like swim this week! You were squealing, kicking and splashing.

Last night I gave you a little steak on my fork and you closed your eyes slowly as the fork came near, as if you didn't know what to expect. After a few times you stopped, and boy did you love that steak!!

On Friday we went back to High Line Park with Grandma and Grandpa. On Saturday the Perettines and Teachs came over for dinner and you loved playing with Meredith and Joseph. Sammi was home for a visit from college so went over to the Vogels for a while and Craig promptly handed you a football!!

more firsts and what you like to eat

So today I found you sitting up in your crib - uh oh! I think we may have to take down your mobile; we'll see what you can reach when I put you in later.....

You are officially crawling! You can drag yourself across the floor on your belly, extra fast if you see Scooter or a wire lying around.

This is what you eat these days:
Morning - 3 T cereal mixed with formula and cinnamon; fruit - banana, applesauce or blueberries; bottle
Lunch - yogurt and more fruit; then, whatever is available - cheese, cheerios
Dinner - sweet potato or peas; more cereal; whatever we are eating for dinner. You will try almost anything but are not the biggest eater. You've liked chicken, broccoli, shells and cheese and roasted carrots.

You're babbling so much too - it feels like you're going to burst out with words at any moment now!!!

rosh hashanah and swim part 2

You celebrated your first Rosh Hashanah! You, me, Daddy and Grandma and Grandpa went to a family service at the temple. You loved the singing and it was such a warm and lively service. Afterward we went home and you took a nap till dinner. Uncle Mike, Uncle Davey and Aunt Carol came and it was a sweet new year.....
You also had your 2nd swim class - this one was definitely better. You didn't cry and toward the end you were kicking a little and seemed more comfortable in the water. Daddy brought some of your bath toys in the pool and that seemed to help. You loved the beach ball and the singing too.

You are definitely moving around a lot more and starting to "speak" a little - mostly "blah blah daa daa" - adorable!

swim class

You and Daddy took your first swim class today at Pace. You've only been in a pool twice before and neither experience was great. You started out a little upset and crying but by the end if you weren't exactly happy you were kicking and doing much better.

The teacher, Angela, thinks that the water was too cold for you (you like VERY warm - almost hot - baths) and of course being an indoor pool it was really loud (you also don't like loud noises). She suggested bringing some of your own toys from home next week, which we'll do.

rainy day and still won't eat!

So we checked out Great Play today - very cute place and nice people but you can only go to the indoor playground during certain times and certain days. But, it's less expensive than citibabes and you can go month to month, not a year commitment.

Later, you, me and Conor met Grandma and Grandpa at Mediterraneo. You had a yogurt and THAT WAS IT!!! No bread, no blueberries, no meat, nothing! What am I going to do? You did have fun walking around with the waitress and checking out the kitchen..............

Oh, and here's s picture of you with one of your favorite toys - the buckle from your high chair.

catching up and random thoughts

As I'm 10 months late to the game, here are some pictures of your room, you in the bath (looking like you're about to read but then eating your book) and you starting to learn to crawl (but only because Scooter is nearby, as you can see......).

We went to citibabes today, a groovy new "kid gym" in Scarsdale, to see about signing you up for some classes and to have an indoor playspace when the weather gets too cold. I loved the modern decor but I'm not sure if it's just right for us. We're going to check out Great Play tomorrow and see what we think.

Still sooooo frustrated with your eating (or not eating). It seems like I can't get the timing right, things you used to love you're no longer interested in, and meals in general are not going so well (except for yogurt, cheerios and oatmeal, with the occasional blueberry for good measure). Tomorrow's another day!

this is for you noah....or maybe it's really for me

Noah-

It's been suggested that I keep a record of my life these days, as I am in the unusual position of being a mom to an 18 year old, a 13 year old and you - my almost 10 month old. Not many people can boast a 12 year age difference between children. And I did manage to do a decent job of documenting Chelsea and Conor's first few years.........albeit the old-fashioned way, in an actual journal.

But times are different and if I can Facebook, then I can certainly blog. And you are so incredibly precious and amazing and funny and sweet that I don't want to miss a thing or forget it later on.

Okay, so I'm 10 months late (19 if you count my pregnancy.....), but here goes!

Love you,

Mommy
